What’s up everyone!  I know I’ve been away from this site for a while now, but TRUST ME, I’ve been working on a multitude of projects that are heating up FINALLY!  I want to share them with you, as I believe that anyone reading these posts have love and good energy and wish only the very best to EVERYONE!

I’ve been asked to be on a reality series entitled, Back Up Divas, coming soon to a major network.  I am so excited about this project, as it expounds on the subject brought up in the Academy-Award winning documentary 20 Feet From Stardom.  The career of backing vocalist, aka session singer, aka tour singer is much more complex than people realize.  I shared this with my students while teaching at Berklee in Boston.  I’ve had students get upset when they didn’t get a good grade in bgv class because they felt they were good singers.  But, to be a good bgv, ther is more to it than just being a good singer.  You have to have a great ear.  This show is going to be awesome as it touches on many aspects of this career and how we are traversing the waters of transitioning into solo artistry.  Anyway, it’s looking very probable that this is going to happen so I am asking that everyone who reads this will send out prayers for this show to be a HUGE success.  Stay tuned for more details!

More Chaka Khan gigs are coming in June in Brooklyn and Johannesburg,SA and a European tour in July.  I’m really looking forward to that, as I miss Europe soooo much.  I’ll keep you all posted on the exact venues, etc..

I had had the opportunity to send some of my music to a major film company and I am so excited about this!  I moved back to LA to sing, act, and write music for film and television.  Getting this connection is tremendous for me.  Please say prayers that every note of my music that falls on the ears of everyone, including the powers that be in the film industry, be a healing of such gargantuan proportions, they feel they have no choices but to place my songs in all of their films.

Vernon Reid of Living Colour has agreed to produce some music on me.  I’m writing the music now!  He sat in on my last gig in NYC.  It was incredible!  He also hired me to sing on a Salif Keita project that he produced years ago.  Throw so great energy on that!

Last but certainly not least, there is an opportunity for me to do some gigs here in LA with two woman I have come to admire, Kat Dyson and Divinity Roxx.  We speak the same musical language, which is hard to find!  Now, this is going to be fucking CRAZY!!!  The venue is hot too!  I’ll let you know as soon as we book it!

That’s the update so far!  A lot is happening and I hope to see all of you IN PERSON very soon, all over the world!  I’M COMING SOON TO A MOVIE THEATER  AND CONCERT HALL NEAR YOU!!!!!!!!

Much Love,

Kudisan Kai
